State Relays weekend - 17th and 18th November.

This was an exhausting but very enjoyable weekend. For a club that is not primarily a track club, we did very well indeed too. We had 30 runners, some running in up to 3 races. Adam Halmy also ran for the open men in the 1500m. We entered 13 teams in all and came away with 5 team bronze medals and one silver. A lot of teams were 4th or 5th, so only just outside the medals. There were a lot of PBs too - Olivia Hogg trimmed her 1500m time by 20 seconds. Full results are on the ANSW website - see link opposite. Now, enjoy some of the pictures and videos below...

State 3K champs 10th Nov. SOPAC

Ten Juniors entered, and 8 juniors showed up and ran in the state 3K championships on Sat. 10th Nov. at SOPAC. Earlier in the day there were 'supporting events' and Bathany Halmy (17) ran 2:18:95 in the 800m. Tessa Constantine (13) and Joe Burgess (16) also ran the 800m and both ran PBs - 2:28 and 2:00:24 respectively. Well done! We sat in bay 9 lower seats - which is now 'our spot'. Tessa stayed on and supported the 3K runners, which was lovely! In the men's H race Ben Jagger (14) ran a 30 second PB with 10:32 - his mum's roars could be heard for miles around. Declan King-Smith (13) ran a PB with 11:58. In the G race, Laclan Cooper (13) won spectacularly in 9:52 and Tom Davies (11) ran 10:37 - he is a rising star! In the F race, returning from injury, Josh Phillips (13) ran a very respectable 9:57. In the E race Adam Halmy (15) ran the fastest junior time of the night with 9:39. I ran in the women's C race (as usual my result is unavailable) - it was under 12:30 anyway. Amelia Gorman (16) ran 11:16 in the women's B race, and finally, Hannah Gibson (16) ran 10:07 in the women's A race. We apologise that Tony did not get a usable photo of Amelia or Adam - they were all too dark or blurred :(

Ben determined. He ran a 30 second PB!

Declan King-Smith gets a PB

Caroline (me) at the start of the women's C race.
Tom Davies is just 11 years old and ran 10:37, beating many 2,3,4 and 5 times his age.

OK, so, this is how hard you need to work to win the race and get a PB of 9:52 at age 13!

10K results for Striders Lane Cove 10K and Rebel Sport 10K

Only two juniors ran in the last Striders 10K race of the season, but quality made up for quantity! Emma Mcglinn has reduced her PB by just under 6 minutes over the season. Hannah Gibson holds the girl's juniors 10K record at 38:30 and she won the 10K open women's event!!! What a STAR!!! She looked effortless too. David Gardiner got close to the male juniors 10K record of 36:08, when he ran a blistering 36:35 in the Rebel sport 10K. Ben Jagger and Gus Wong also ran and did well.

Hannah was described as looking 'effortless' as she won the women's race in the last Striders 10K of the season at Lane Cove in a time of 38:30 - a juniors record!
